Our Story

Helping you inspect and prepare files for online submission.

ImageToSend was built to solve a universal digital headache: the moment a website rejects your file upload because it does not match a stated requirement — the wrong size, format, dimensions, orientation, or aspect ratio.

What ImageToSend is

ImageToSend is a small, focused website with one purpose: helping you inspect and prepare images and documents for the measurable requirements of an online upload — job applications, school submissions, online forms, email attachments, and messaging — before you submit them. It starts with File Preflight, a diagnostic tool that compares your file against the requirements you enter, and continues with four browser-based tools that resize, convert, combine into PDF, and crop or rotate files. It is not a photo editor, a cloud storage service, an official document authority, or a database of third-party requirements.

Why We Exist

People frequently encounter friction when trying to submit important documents online. A job applicant's resume is rejected because the PDF is over 2MB. A student's assignment won't upload because the photos are in HEIC format instead of JPG. A traveler's online form may reject a document photo if the image size, format, or dimensions do not match the portal's listed requirements.

We realized that the tools available to fix these simple problems were often bloated desktop applications, expensive subscription services, or online converters that require files to be uploaded to external servers.

ImageToSend was created to provide a better alternative. We offer practical file preparation utilities that run entirely within your local web browser.

Privacy First

We utilize modern HTML5 Canvas and WebAssembly. Your files are processed using your device's own hardware, meaning ImageToSend does not intentionally upload or store processed files on its servers.

Local browser processing

File processing takes place locally on your device without intentionally uploading files to an external processing server. Processing time depends on the file size, format, browser, and device.

Who We Help

Our platform is designed for anyone navigating the rigid requirements of modern digital portals.

  • Job Seekers: Resizing and formatting headshots and portfolio images for Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Students & Educators: Merging scattered photos of handwritten work into cohesive, easily gradeable PDFs.
  • Remote Professionals: Reducing image file sizes before attaching them to emails with file-size limits.
  • Travelers & Expats: Cropping identification photos to common document-photo aspect ratios for visas and passports.

What ImageToSend Offers Today

ImageToSend currently provides a requirements-first diagnostic tool plus four browser-based fix tools, each focused on a specific file-preparation task:

  • File Preflight — inspects a file locally and compares it against the measurable requirements you enter (file size, format, dimensions, orientation, aspect ratio), separating what matches from what needs a fix and recommending the right tool.
  • Smart Image Resizer — reduces an image below a destination's stated maximum file size by adjusting quality and, if needed, pixel dimensions.
  • Image Converter — converts between common formats (JPG, PNG, WebP, and others), including local decoding of HEIC/HEIF photos.
  • Images to PDF — merges several images into a single multi-page PDF document.
  • Document Editor — crops, rotates, and flips a photo, with Legal Crop presets that lock common document-photo aspect ratios.

You can see all of them on our Tools page.

Realistic Limitations

We want to be honest about what ImageToSend can and cannot do:

  • Local processing depends on your device. Very large files or many images processed at once can strain browser memory. Processing in smaller batches is usually more reliable.
  • HEIC/HEIF inputs have a 6 MB per-file limit and a 20-second decode timeout to help prevent browser instability. Larger HEIC files should be converted to JPG on your phone first.
  • Legal Crop controls aspect ratio only. It does not set pixel dimensions, print resolution, background color, head size, or expression rules, and cropping to a ratio does not guarantee acceptance by any issuing authority or portal.
  • Meeting a file-size or format requirement does not guarantee a third party will accept the file. Always confirm the destination's stated format, dimensions, and content rules.
  • ImageToSend is not an offline tool. Loading a tool page requires an internet connection and a modern web browser; file processing itself runs locally in that browser.

How we test and document our tools

ImageToSend is a small, focused suite, and we try to be honest about exactly what each tool does and does not do. Our approach to quality is built around the actual supported operations in the project, not marketing claims.

  • Behavior is checked against documented processing rules. We verify each tool's behavior against its documented processing rules and record known limitations. Browser-generated image output can vary by browser and source file, so measured examples are verified in the actual browser workflow before publication rather than relying on an external test harness.
  • Known limitations are documented in the open. The HEIC/HEIF 6 MB per-file decode limit, the 20-second decode timeout, the 70% quality floor in the Smart Resizer, the 200 px minimum dimension, the lack of OCR in Images to PDF, and the aspect-ratio-only nature of Legal Crop are all stated on the tool pages, the Guides, and the FAQ rather than hidden.
  • Error states are considered. When a file cannot be processed safely — for example an oversized HEIC input or a decode that exceeds the timeout — the tool reports a specific message instead of freezing, and points to the FAQ for context.
  • Outputs should be checked before important submission. Because processing runs on your device and destinations vary, we encourage you to review the result at full size before uploading it anywhere that matters.
  • No guarantee of third-party acceptance. Meeting a file-size, format, or aspect-ratio target does not mean a portal, employer, or authority will accept the file. Requirements vary by destination and can change, so always confirm the destination's current stated rules.

We do not claim external audits, certifications, professional review, or guaranteed results. The tools are practical helpers for common file-preparation friction, and we document their boundaries so you can decide when they fit your situation.

What ImageToSend does not promise

  • No guaranteed third-party acceptance. A portal may still reject a file for reasons ImageToSend cannot see or control.
  • Destination requirements may change. Size, format, and dimension rules are set by the destination, not by ImageToSend.
  • Users should inspect final output. Review the processed file before submitting it somewhere important.
  • Tools do not replace official requirements. Legal Crop sets aspect ratio only; it does not certify compliance with any authority's photo rules.

Our Commitment

We are committed to keeping core file preparation simple, accessible, and privacy-focused. We aim to keep core file preparation accessible while using a browser-based local processing approach. Users remain responsible for the files they choose to process.
